Dan Patrick visits IDEA Carver to discuss SB2, the charter school bill

Texas Senator Dan Patrick at IDEA Carver Academy to discuss charter school bill SB2

As mentioned earlier, there’s a bill pending in the Texas senate—SB2—that would have a big impact on charter schools in Texas. Key changes: raising the cap on the number of charters in Texas and creating an independent charter authorizer to evaluate new applications and close failing charters.

State Senator Dan Patrick, chairman of the Senate Education Committee, visited IDEA Carver in San Antonio on Friday to promote SB2 and discuss some recent tweaks that are intended to build consensus and support in the Texas House of Representatives.
