[Gallery] KIPP Un Mundo tour; KIPP San Antonio hosts education roundtable with Greg Abbott

Earlier this month, I went to a  First Friday Breakfast at KIPP Un Mundo Academy; read more details about the event in this earlier post. The highlight of the visit was getting a campus tour from two first-grade students. This earlier post has dates and locations for all the First Friday Breakfasts of the 2013-14 school year. Last week, KIPP: San Antonio hosted Attorney General Greg Abbott, also a Republican candidate for Governor of Texas, for a discussion about education in Texas. Abbott praised KIPP: San Antonio for its record of getting students ready for college, and stressed the importance of competition to drive improvement in education.

Wendy Davis, a state senator and Democratic candidate for Governor of Texas, is concerned that spending cuts have weakened Texas’s education system.
