Charter Moms Chats: Inga Cotton, Founder and Executive Director of San Antonio Charter Moms, shares her thoughts and answers your questions.
Inga is feeling more optimistic today and gathering a sense of control over the near future.
Yesterday, she picked up her kids’ stuff from their desks and lockers at school. That made her feel sad, and also made her realize that the campuses will probably be closed for a while longer. Also, they found out that our neighborhood pool has delayed its summer opening. They will adapt and find another way to stay cool, maybe with backyard sprinklers. If one of their favorite trails gets crowded, then they change to a different route. They can still wave hello to their neighbors from across the street.
There are reasons to feel positive about the future. Hopefully, most people are staying home, and there will be fewer cases of illness. Local officials are making preparations, like setting up an overflow hospital at Freeman Coliseum and Expo Hall. Elections are delayed, STAAR testing is cancelled, and some schools are relaxing their grading policies.
Inga wants to hear from the SA Charter Moms community about your needs. Do you need more information about coping with COVID-19, distance learning, etc.? Or are you thinking ahead to the next school year, and you need enrollment information? Please join the San Antonio Charter Moms discussion group on Facebook and take the poll.
