I’ve written before about KIPP: San Antonio‘s First Friday Breakfasts. The next one, on Friday, November 1, 2013 at KIPP University Prep, will be special, featuring the 1st Annual KIPP San Antonio March to College.
The First Friday Breakfast will be from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., as usual. Experience a student-led campus tour, eat breakfast tacos and drink coffee, and hear from KIPP: San Antonio leaders and teachers. After the breakfast, at 9 a.m., the March to College will begin. The students will gather up all their college applications, transcripts, and recommendations and walk to the post office. Families, teachers, school leaders, and community supporters will join the march. Read more in this email.
Do you remember what it felt like to mail in your college applications? I remember feeling nervous and excited. I really had my heart set on going to Trinity University, so I applied early admission; most of my friends applied later. It must be a great feeling for the KIPPsters to have the whole “Team & Family” working together on college applications.
The First Friday Breakfasts rotate among the KIPP San Antonio campuses. This earlier post has dates and locations for the 2013-14 school year. You might want to mark your calendar for Friday, December 6, 2013, when breakfast will be at KIPP Un Mundo Academy, 103 Tuleta Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78212 (map). January 2014 will be at KIPP Aspire Academy and February 2014 will be at KIPP Camino Academy.
