Under the heading “Parenting Makes All the Difference”, Julian Castro told Parade magazine:
Talk about achieving the American dream. Identical twins Julián and Joaquín Castro each hold bachelor’s degrees from Stanford and law degrees from Harvard and are rising Democratic stars: Julián is the youngest mayor of a top 50 U.S. city, and Joaquín is a first-term U.S. congressman. Julián says: “One story I tell is going to our middle school orientation. At some point, the administrator said we should look around, because chances were, up to half of us wouldn’t be there to finish eighth grade. Later that day, my mother pulled us out of that school!” Their secret to success? Having parents who acted “almost like watchdogs.”

That sounds like a school choice story to me.
