The Kleberg South Texas Heritage Center at the Witte Museum has its grand opening this weekend.
This morning, my daughter and I went to the member preview. We learned about the finer points of cowboy hats and sombreros from a vaquero. The galleries are beautiful — some modern, and some wonderfully refurbished. My daughter wanted to study the tools of the trade: barbed wire, brands, etc. (The Witte! Now with more cowbell!)
The STHC reminds me of the Atlanta History Center: well-selected artifacts lovingly collected by family members of the people who lived the history. We will definitely go back and learn more.
