The BOOtanica! Fall Festival is going on today at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Here are some highlights from our visit:
- Hanging out with friends in Halloween costumes
- Touching snakes, courtesy of the South Texas Herpetology Association
- Playing with bugs and grubs, including enormous beetle larvae, thanks to the Texas A&M AgriLIFE Extension Service
- Studying the strange carnivorous plants and giant sculptures in the Savage Gardens exhibit
- Watching expert pumpkin painting
- Eating free carnitas and barbacoa tacos from Chipotle
We have a membership, so we got in free, but H-E-B is sponsoring discounted admission ($2 off) today.

- “Scarecrow Trail”—through November 8, 2013
- “Savage Gardens”—extended through December 31, 2013
