Did you know that KIPP San Antonio offers dual-language education in elementary school? Learn more at the next First Friday Breakfast, which will be at KIPP Un Mundo Academy, 103 Tuleta Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78212 (map), from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on April 4, 2014. More details in this invitation.
KIPP Un Mundo will be adding second grade next year. That means, for now, the school tours will be let by first graders. Come see for yourself—they do a really good job!
Before the school tour, visitors will hear from KIPP school leaders; I expect they will share news about KIPP Esperanza, the new dual-language elementary school opening in August 2014. KIPP First Friday Breakfasts are free, and offer a buffet with tacos, muffins, fruit, coffee, juice, and more, but please reserve a place so they know how many tour groups to arrange. RSVP to Dina Cruz at 210-279-5525 or dcruz@kippsa.org.
At KIPP Un Mundo, the students spend some days learning in English, and some days learning in Spanish. Learn more in this earlier post about the December 2013 breakfast at KIPP Un Mundo. Also, read more about dual-language education programs in San Antonio: “Lenguaje Dual Domingo: Dual Language Programs in San Antonio”, Michelle Hernandez, Family Love in My City, May 19, 2013; “Dual Language Education in San Antonio”, Megan Brown, Alamo City Moms Blog, November 21, 2013.
If you can’t make it to the April breakfast, then please mark your calendars for Friday, May 2, 2014, when the final breakfast of the school year will be at KIPP Aspire Academy. This earlier post has the full list for 2013-14.
Prospective students and families, take note: the application deadline for KIPP San Antonio is April 6. For more details, see this earlier post.
