Fourth of July and apple pie: Landa Library as a community center for Monte Vista

Here are some pictures from the 2010 event. Next week, the Monte Vista Historical Association will host its annual July 4th parade. Marchers will gather at the corner of Lynwood and Howard streets at 10 a.m. and will wander over to the Landa Library for a picnic at 11 a.m. The defending champions of the pie-baking contest tell me that they will be back this year.

Not just on Independence Day, but on any day of the year, the Landa Gardens are an important gathering place for families, fulfilling the promise of the 2008 renovations by the Landa Gardens Conservancy“Library is no longer just for readers”, Sarah Mills, San Antonio Express-News, June 17, 2012.
