Nonprofit Transparency

San Antonio Charter Moms parent handout

History

San Antonio Charter Moms (SACM) began as a WordPress blog—really, a self-funded hobby—in 2012. Fueled by her own struggle to find the right schools for her children, and driven by a passion to help other families with their searches, founder Inga Cotton wrote blog posts, created a Facebook page and discussion group, and joined Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. In 2016-17, Inga was a part time staff member at Families Empowered, and remains a supporter of their work.

In 2017, funders approached Inga about transforming SACM into a nonprofit organization. At first, SACM operated under the umbrella of a fiscal sponsor, Quarry Kingdom Development. In September 2018, SACM received a determination letter from the IRS, documenting its status as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3). SACM continues to work with Quarry Kingdom Development for back-office support.

SACM is deeply thankful to its funders, including the George W. Brackenridge Foundation and Choose to Succeed.

Transparency

San Antonio Charter Moms is a relatively new organization, but we are committed to transparency with our funders, our stakeholders, and the public. We will be adding more documents and links to this page as they become available.
