San Antonio Charter Moms leads the way in offering expert guidance and unwavering support to parents on their quest for the best education for their child.
Our Story
Necessity is the mother of invention. Inga Cotton is the mother who invented San Antonio Charter Moms (SACM) out of her own necessity. This mother-of-two created a one-stop shop for parents interested in exploring schools of choice after trying to find a preschool for her autistic son in 2011.
The lack of options, information, and resources was both overwhelming and frustrating, so Cotton decided to do something about it. A licensed attorney and in-depth researcher by nature, she began doing her homework on schools of choice and pushing the envelope for educational change.
As her research grew, so did her support. Parents began reaching out to Cotton for advice and asking her to share her research. San Antonio Charter Moms sprung from those requests in 2012 as a blog where Cotton could share the latest information on San Antonio schools of choice along with useful tips she learned through experience.
Transforming Education, One Parent at a Time
Thanks in no small part to Cotton’s efforts, San Antonio now boasts more than 174 schools of choice, and SACM has grown from a hobby to a flourishing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
