You’d be surprised how many young adults don’t know how to clean a bathroom. I mean I get it, who wants to clean a bathroom? It’s probably everyone’s least favorite space to clean and for good reason. Although it isn’t a fun task it is an important one.

Cleaning Bathrooms Is a Life Skill
Today, I’ll be sharing some helpful links that serve as great guides to help you get started if you’re unsure where to even begin. Not only will your kids grow in knowledge about this topic but you’ll be preparing them for adulthood as well.
I highly recommend reading through all the links to determine which ones suit your family best. This blog post here is a great resource. She does a great job of generally breaking down the process. I’m also including some links geared towards different age groups that you can incorporate as well.
Prepping ahead of your kids will save you some time and take you straight to the learning part of things. You may also want to consider making your own cleaners. By doing this not only will it save you some money but it can be safer and non-toxic as opposed to some store bought cleaning supplies.
Happy Cleaning! 😁
Preschoolers Cleaning Alongside
For young children at this age I’d introduce them to this activity by doing it alongside them. They can still do simple tasks like clearing out the countertops, removing toys from the bathtub, wiping down the door knobs, etc.
Tools for Bathroom Cleaning with Grade Schoolers
For children in middle grades, talk about the purpose of this activity. Give them the pep talk about taking ownership and the importance of learning a new life skill. You can download and print a free checklist like this one or make your own. Another way to make the chore easier on both of you is to create a cleaning caddie like this one here. By doing this the kids will learn exactly what to use and how to use it.
Teens Can Deep Clean
For teens, build on their knowledge of this topic. You can certainly use the links associated with the grade school activities but you can even take it a step further and teach them a few how-to’s like unclogging a toilet. Deep cleaning the bathroom can also be a part of their chore with tasks like cleaning the grout, the toilet brush, showerhead etc. You can find some useful information here. They can also help with making the homemade cleaning supplies and putting together the cleaning caddies.
