Air-conditioned sporty fun: Open Play at The Training Ground with Alamo Kidsports

Have you tried Open Play at Alamo Kidsports yet? It’s a great way to stay cool, burn energy, and help kids build motor skills and teamwork. The Training Ground, located at 15675 San Pedro, San Antonio, Texas 78232 (map), off 281 between Thousand Oaks and Brook Hollow, is an indoor sports place with cushiony artificial grass, soccer goals, basketball hoops, a rainbow parachute, and more soft playground balls than I have ever seen in one place.

Open Play is an unstructured way to play with all the sports toys. The cost is $7 per kid, or free for members (who are enrolled in a class, such as SoccerTots). Maximum of 20 kids at a time.

The Open Play schedule for September 2013 is noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Stay up to date by subscribing to the email newsletter, and check Twitter and Facebook to confirm Open Play.

Disclosure: In July, my kids and I participated in a free Open Play session for bloggers, with cupcakes provided by Green Vegetarian Cuisine. That wasn’t our first time at Open Play, though—we’ve been fans of Alamo Kidsports for years.
