An architect reflects on SAISD’s Bonham Academy expansion plans

Bonham Academy is a school in a quickly developing, revitalized, dense urban area. Urban schools are not like other schools that often find cookie-cutter solutions workable. This bond project has become a real test of the capability of SAISD to grow as an organization. San Antonio is a large city and SAISD is arguably the most urban of San Antonio’s many school districts. It has to be prepared to solve urban school challenges with confidence, creativity, and even innovation. That capability is not evident in the planning at Bonham.
