Good news! San Antonio is getting two new charter schools, Carpe Diem San Antonio and Redbud Montessori For All.
In September, the State Board of Education interviewed the Generation 18 charter applicants, as discussed in this earlier post. Education Commissioner Michael Williams recommended granting charters to four applicants; more details in this earlier post. Last week, the State Board of Education met and voted on the Education Commissioner’s recommendations. Three charter applicants survived:
- El Paso Leadership Academy (application)
- Carpe Diem Schools–San Antonio (application), a Choose to Succeed partner
- Magnolia and Redbud Montessori for All (application), to open in Austin in 2014 and San Antonio in 2016
