Fallout from SAISD superintendent finalist’s withdrawal

Last week, Dr. Manuel Isquierdo (current superintendent of Sunnyside USD in Tucson, Arizona) withdrew his name from consideration for the job of San Antonio ISD superintendent after public discussion of his record of personal financial and legal problems; see earlier post.

So, what is the fallout from this blunder by the SAISD board?

Most significant, perhaps, are the recent online discussions among SAISD parents that show a high level of dissatisfaction with the board of trustees. For SAISD to grow and improve, they need to regain the confidence of parents. The May 11 election does not offer much hope: only one seat is contested, and no more than two seats will change hands. In particular, President Ed Garza is running unopposed.
