The Texas Education Agency recently released a new set of accountability ratings for Texas school districts and campuses. This is the first set of ratings based on STAAR standardized testing data. (See this earlier post for a discussion of previous ratings.) The ratings are a combination of four factors: student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps, and postsecondary readiness.
Five charter school districts in San Antonio were rated “improvement required,” analogous to the former “academically unacceptable” rating:
- City Center Health Careers (Y, Y, Y, N)
- Henry Ford Academy: Alameda School For Art + Design (Y, N, Y, Y)
- Higgs Carter King Gifted & Talented Charter Academy (Y, Y, Y, N)
- San Antonio Technology Academy (N, N, N, N)
- Shekinah Radiance Academy (district: Y, Y, N, Y; individual campuses vary)
All other local charter districts (list), and the traditional school districts, were rated “met standard.”
