After two days of committee meetings, the full State Board of Education meets today to take care of business—including the remaining “Generation 17” charter school applications. These nine applicants made it out of the Committee on School Initiatives on Wednesday:
- BASIS (San Antonio) approved 5-0
- Pro-Vision Academy (Houston) approved 5-0
- C.O.R.E. Academy (Houston) approved 5-0
- Village Tech Schools (Duncanville/Dallas) approved 5-0
- Great Hearts Academy (San Antonio) approved 4-1
- Dallas Scholars Charter School approved 4-1
- Polaris Public School (Grand Prairie/Arlington/Dallas) approved 3-2
- Center for Teaching and Learning (Montgomery County/Houston) approved 3-2
- International Leadership of Texas (Dallas) approved 3-2
It appears that this year’s other applicant from San Antonio, Ben Yehuda Academy, is in limbo: the committee did not vote on it.
The State Board of Education will meet at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting will be webcast. The agenda is online; item number 11 is “Proposed Selection of Open-Enrollment Charter Schools.”
