Rebecca Bell-Metereau ran as a Democrat for District 5 on the Texas State Board of Education, which includes northern Bexar county (San Antonio); Kendall, Comal, and Guadalupe counties; and north to Burnet county. She lost to Republican incumbent Ken Mercer in the 2012 general election.
