The San Antonio Charter Moms team is proud to announce our 2024–25 series of School Discovery Day events, including our flagship event during National School Choice Week, January 26–February 1, 2025. During this upcoming enrollment season, we want to help families like yours to find schools that are the right fit for your children. At School Discovery Days, you will get the chance to meet with dozens of school representatives so you can ask questions, fill out applications, and learn about the enrollment process—all while having fun at family-friendly locations in San Antonio.

What You’ll Find at School Discovery Days
What can you expect at School Discovery Days? Learn more in this video created for us by Alamo Arts Academy.
At each School Discovery Day there will be over 40 schools will be in attendance. These schools will represent a range of school models: open enrollment public charter schools, in-district charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, homeschooling, and early childhood education programs. Staff from these schools will be ready to answer questions about what learning models they offer and what makes their school unique. They can also explain how to visit their campuses and how to apply for enrollment. The event descriptions below will list the schools coming to each event.
Team members from San Antonio Charter Moms will be at School Discovery Days to answer your questions about how to do a school search. We can offer advice about the school search timeline and explain how to set up a school search consultation.
School Discovery Days are designed to be fun for the whole family. We hold them at great locations like the San Antonio Zoo, The DoSeum, and Hemisfair. Young DJs from The AM Project will be spinning tunes, JoiBugSA will be offering face painting, and Once in a Wild will be presenting animals for show-and-tell. The event descriptions below have details for the amenities and partners at each location.
School Discovery Day at the San Antonio Zoo
When: Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11 AM–2 PM
Where: San Antonio Zoo, 3903 N. St. Mary’s St., San Antonio, TX 78212 (map); enter through the Education Center (map)
Parking: Free parking is available in the Zoo Parking Garage, located in between the zoo and the Will Smith Zoo School. Free parking is also available in surface lots in Brackenridge Park.
Many people don’t know that enrollment season for the upcoming school year actually starts in the fall. That’s why our School Discovery Day at the San Antonio Zoo is the perfect place to start! The first 1,000 guests who register for our School Discovery Day event will also enjoy free admission to the San Antonio Zoo.
The San Antonio Zoo opened in 1914, occupying a 50-acre campus in Brackenridge Park. Now, the zoo is home to over 750 species, including some which are endangered or extinct in the wild. Come for the information and stay for the fun! Guests can also enjoy beats by the young DJs of The AM Project and enter for a chance to win a raffle prize.
Entry to School Discovery Day will be through the zoo’s Education Center. Learn more on the Zoo Map. If you are already spending the day at the zoo, you can also reach our event via the entrance to Kronkosky’s Tiny Tot Nature Spot.

School Discovery Day at The DoSeum
When: Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 9 AM–12 PM

School Discovery Day at The DoSeum is the flagship event of our series! The first 1,000 guests who register for our free event will not only be able to meet over 40 schools, but will also have access to The DoSeum’s 68,000 square feet of wow-worthy galleries designed to cultivate curiosity, ignite learning, and discover the power of play through interactive fun. The beats of the young DJs of The AM Project will welcome visitors. In the entrance gallery, SACM team members will be on hand to greet visitors and the space will be packed with schools who are eager to meet families and talk about their learning models. After visiting the tables in the theater, families will be able to move through the double doors into the first floor and second floor galleries of The DoSeum, where kids can enjoy hands-on fun and caregivers can talk with even more schools. Team members with SACM will be on hand to answer questions about school search. Guests who participate in the scavenger hunt can enter a raffle to win a prize. Free parking is available at The DoSeum’s parking lots and street parking in the neighborhood.
National School Choice Week, January 25–February 1, 2025, is a celebration of opportunities for all families to choose the K–12 educational options that best fit their children.

Hemisfair is a landmark park in downtown San Antonio. Families visiting School Discovery Day at Hemisfair can enjoy the fantastic amenities of Yanaguana Garden, including a splash pad, sand play area, table games, swings, climbing structures, picnic area, restaurants, and more.
