The State Board of Education will meet for the first time this year from January 30 to February 1, 2013. The agenda is online. One of the first pieces of business will be assigning members to committees—including the Committee on School Initiatives, which oversees charter schools, including charter school applications. Mavis B. Knight (D-Dallas) and Ken Mercer (R-San Antonio) may return to the Committee on School Initiatives. It will be interesting to see the committee assignments for new member Marisa B. Perez (D-San Antonio).
