[Best of 2013] Guest blogging, because "it's so much more friendly with two"

Best of 2013: Guest Posts and Contributors | San Antonio Charter MomsAs Piglet says in Winnie the Pooh, “It’s so much more friendly with two.” Likewise, guest blogging builds relationships, grows audiences, stimulates ideas, and is just so much friendlier.

In 2013, I published one post from a young guest blogger, and contributed several posts as a guest blogger.

My guest blogger, Emma, was only 10 years old at the time:  “Letters from Emma, a future BASIS San Antonio student”, May 14, 2013. Emma’s mom tells me that she is challenged and thriving at BASIS San Antonio

I am grateful to Bob Rivard and his team for publishing my controversial guest post, “School Choice Advocate Responds to ‘Go Public’ Campaign”, Inga Cotton, Rivard Report, November 12, 2013. The Rivard Report helped me reach the right audience: local decision makers and thought leaders.

This year, I was honored to become a contributor at Alamo City Moms Blog. In November, I wrote about all the fun science classes at the San Antonio Children’s Museum“Science education for young children at the San Antonio Children’s Museum”, Inga Cotton, Alamo City Moms Blog, November 15, 2013.

In December, ACMB co-founders Brooke Meabon and Lindsay Rouse let me stick to my favorite topic, helping parents choose the right schools for their children: “School choice guide: 8 tips to help you choose the right school for your child”, Inga Cotton, Alamo City Moms Blog, December 16, 2013.

Colleen Pence of San Antonio Mom Blogs hosts a weekly link-up (here’s a recent example) of new posts by San Antonio mom bloggers, and uses those links to create curated pots, such as “Round up: More than 50 Christmas posts by San Antonio mom bloggers”, Colleen Pence, San Antonio Mom Blogs, December 20, 2013 (including links to my post about the botanical garden and my post about the symphony). Thank you, Colleen, for your mentorship and for all you do to support our community.

Pamela Price, author of How to Work and Homeschool and blogger at Red, White & Grew, published my guest post, {Guest Post & GHF Blog Hop} A Lesson for New Homeschool Parents, Inga Cotton, Red, White & Grew, August 19, 2013, as part of a Gifted Homeschoolers Forum blog hop. (I also contributed to the October GHF Blog Hop with “[GHF Blog Hop] Homeschooling my gifted/2e son for one month so far”, Inga Cotton, San Antonio Charter Moms, October 14, 2013.) Pamela, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your guidance and support. Homeschooling F.T. this year has been a wonderful experience, and I don’t know if I could have gotten here without you.

This is what I like about guest blogging. To paraphrase Piglet: It’s so much more friendly with two, or three, or four . . . .
