Giant scissors at ribbon cutting for KIPP Un Mundo Dual Language Academy

Ribbon cutting ceremony at KIPP Un Mundo Dual Language Academy with San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce | San Antonio Charter Moms

Scissors?

Here is my favorite picture from the KIPP Un Mundo Dual Language Academy grand opening on December 7. After the First Friday Breakfast in the gym, leaders from the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce stretched out a long red ribbon and brought out a giant pair of scissors. One of the kindergarten students is not quite sure what to make of those scissors, but she stays on task—demonstrating the KIPP character strength of grit— while principal Luzdivina Lozano offers support and encouragement. Another kindergarten student is holding the Hispanic Chamber membership plaque that now hangs just inside the entrance of KIPP Un Mundo. Standing behind Ms. Lozano are KIPP: San Antonio leaders, including CEO Mark Larson and board chair Bob Scott.

Also see my earlier post about KSAT 12’s coverage of the ribbon cutting.
