UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.
The San Antonio Symphony‘s new home is at the Tobin Center, but they are still playing special concerts at the Majestic Theatre. At 8 p.m. on Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18, the Symphony will perform Michael Giacchino‘s score of Star Trek: Into Darkness while the movie plays on the big screen.
The Symphony has offered me four tickets to their presentation of Star Trek: Into Darkness—Live in Concert; I will use a pair of tickets myself, and give away a pair of tickets. To enter the giveaway, leave a comment, no later than Tuesday, October 14, sharing what you like about Star Trek. I will randomly choose a winner and send notice by email.
The Majestic Theatre was originally built in 1929 as a movie theater; later, it served for many years as the home of the San Antonio Symphony. So, it’s entirely appropriate to combine a movie screening with a symphony performance at the Majestic. On April 3-4, 2015, the Symphony will be back at the Majestic for Bugs Bunny at the Symphony.
Last season, my kids and I attended several San Antonio Symphony concerts at the Majestic. Here is F.T.’s review of Dvorak’s New World Symphony and F.T’s review of the Nutcracker.
I’ve been a Star Trek fan for as long as I can remember. Starting when I was about four years old, I watched reruns of the original series with my sister and my parents. I’ve enjoyed the various reincarnations on television (particularly Star Trek: The Next Generation), and I find J.J. Abrams’ film versions to be exciting and entertaining. Seeing Into Darkness with the Symphony’s live performance will be a fun, geeky date night.

If you are a fan of Star Trek: Into Darkness, then perhaps you are also a fan of actor Benedict Cumberbatch, well known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, and may enjoy this: “A Study in Hope: BBC Sherlock, Parents, & Gifted/2E Kids”, Pamela Price, Red, White & Grew, January 29, 2014.
