Jeffrey D. Flores (formerly Alameda School) takes principal job at New Frontiers Charter School

Jeffrey D. Flores, formerly the founding principal of the Henry Ford Academy: Alameda School for Art + Design, will be the new principal at New Frontiers Charter School.

The New Frontiers Charter School family is both proud and excited to announce that Jeffrey D. Flores has accepted the position as its new Principal. Mr. Flores brings his experience and passion for teaching and developing successful programs to New Frontiers Charter School and will no doubt help parents, teachers and students fulfill their scholastic goals.

Mr. Flores’ professional experience in education includes working with elementary, secondary and higher education programs at the regional, state and national levels, having served as school administrator, overseeing curriculum development and instruction, special education, and discipline and guidance counseling programs.

In his prior role, Mr. Flores served as the founding Superintendent/Principal for the Henry Ford Academy: Alameda School for Art & Design (ASAD). During his tenure, Mr. Flores focused on engaging high school students and preparing them for the future by providing an environment of strong academics, a college-ready culture, intensive art and design preparation that included studio seminars, and real-world experiences that focused on innovation and creativity.

Mr. Flores’s results were nothing short of outstanding. In four short years, he developed the HFA: ASAD Academy to garner district, regional, state and national accolades in academic, athletic, theatrical, and design and artistic competitions. His students have been commissioned to work for Governor Rick Perry, Mayor Julian Castro and have had their work displayed in numerous museums.

Mr. Flores also served as a Director of School Operations, Planning and Accountability for the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). NCLR is the largest national constituency-based Hispanic organization and the leading voice in Washington, DC for the Hispanic community. Additionally, Mr. Flores served as a Field Service Agent for the Educational Service Center, Region 20, a center that assists school districts and open-enrollment charter schools on improving student performance and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of school operations.

Mr. Flores is a proud product of the San Antonio Independent School District and a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Government with an emphasis on Southwestern Studies, as well as a Master’s degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction, both obtained from Our Lady of the Lake University. He holds certificates in Non-Profit Management and Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has also obtained a Master’s in Business Management from Indiana’s Wesleyan University.

He is married to the beautiful Catherine Flores and they are proud parents of three beautiful children; Eduardo, Lorena and Marisol.

Dear Parents,

As you may have heard through a letter mailed recently, Principal Flores has submitted his notification of resignation as Principal/Superintendent of Henry Ford Academy: Alameda School and will be pursuing another professional opportunity serving as Principal at New Frontiers Charter Middle School. Although we are saddened to see Mr. Flores go, we are very grateful for his immense contribution to our institution and wish him well in his new position of educational leadership.

As we bid Mr. Flores farewell, we as the administrative leadership team are confident in the transition plan that is being developed in collaboration with the Henry Ford Learning Institute Board of Directors and our local school Advisory Board. The transitionary administrative leadership team possesses the required qualifications, experience and school’s best interest at heart in successfully leading our organization from this point forward. This transitionary leadership team will consist of Dr. Lori Rodriguez, Ms. Jessica Sanchez, Mrs. Doria Cross, Ms. Diana Ramirez and Mr. Jeremiah Montez. Each of us look forward to working closely with you as we continue to provide a quality, caring and safe learning environment for your student(s).

We are very excited about our move to our new building in the fall and are confident that this will bring us greater visibility in the community, further showcasing our strengths as a high performing art/design school focused on creative thinking and problem solving in preparing students for college and career success.

In the spirit of community and open communication, we invite you to attend a parent information session on Monday, July 8 at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. The HFA: Alameda School transitionary administrative leadership team would like to share with you the transition plan and answer any questions you may have. We will also be joined by Ms. Deborah Parizek, Executive Director of the Henry Ford Learning Institute, who will be joining us from Detroit, Michigan.
