Families Empowered listened to parents, and they said that even though the start of the school year is just weeks away, many families are still searching for the right schools for their kids for this fall. Because of that feedback, Families Empowered is teaming up with San Antonio School Finder (from City Education Partners), and us, San Antonio Charter Moms, to host a summer San Antonio School Fair at the San Antonio Food Bank, 5200 Enrique M. Barrera Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78227 (map), on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM.
Over 30 schools and districts, including traditional public schools, public charter schools, and private schools, will be ready to share information with families at the fair. The event will feature free face-painting, balloon animal artists, and family-friendly games—as well as some fun extras from the San Antonio Food Bank. There will also be an application zone where families can receive one-on-one assistance filling out their school applications in Spanish or English.
The fair will be located in a covered, open-air pavilion at the San Antonio Food Bank, which is also providing all families with free produce bags. Kids visiting the school fair will get free sack lunches.
Families Empowered is a nonprofit organization that provides, personalized support to parents on important educational decisions. The saschoolfair.org site is a helpful resource for parents and caregivers, even if they are not able to attend the fair in person, because it has links and information about the schools that are participating in the fair.
If you are still looking at your options for schools this fall, and you would like to meet with leaders, teachers, and staff from local, community-based schools, the San Antonio School Fair at the San Antonio Food Bank is a great opportunity.
